About us
The Kilkenny School of Irish Dance was established by Sean Kilkenny TCRG, in 2003 in The Hague, Netherlands.
Our aim is to enable all dancers to reach their potential in both solo and team dancing. We want dancers to enjoy coming to classes and explore the world of competition ( Feis ) as well as stage performance. In order to achieve this small class size is necessary, hence our desire to remain small but successful. While KSID has a very high success rate in competition (4 European Champions and 5 World Qualifiers in 2010 ) there are many who are not driven to compete. They just love the challenge and joy of dance itself while meeting people from all quarters of the globe. While the most of our dancers are Dutch in origin there are 28 other different nationalities now registered. Focus is placed on developing proper technique as well as learning lively and up-to-date new steps enabling the dancer to attain their full potential. A healthy team spirit is encouraged fostering a solid determination to commit and be disciplined. These skills will prove to be valuable assets as the dancer progresses in dance as well as in life.
So, whether you aspire to becoming a World Champion, a dancer with Riverdance …….. or whether you would just like to do something different and meet new people along the way, do contact us and learn why Irish dance has become a global art form.
