What will I Learn
Irish step dancing consists of two main forms, soft shoe Dance and hard shoe Dance. There are four levels from Beginners to Primary to Intermediate and Open Championship level. Beginners start learning the basic steps needed to perform the Reel, Light Jig, Slip Jig and Single Jig in soft shoe. Having mastered these dances with good technique and posture, dancers then to progress to learning the exciting rhythms of our hard show repertoire consisting mainly of jigs and hornpipes. All of this will take one year at least.
What do I need for class.
A good sense of adventure because you never know where the world of Irish dance may take you as well as a good thick pair of socks and if you grow to enjoy the classes real Irish dance shoes can be ordered later from our supplier in London. On a more serious note we do insist that dancers wear shorts/skirts ( above knee length) as it is important to see knees and ankles in order to develop their style and technique.
